Bakers Oven was a British bakery chain founded by Allied Bakeries in 1976, its first shop was in Barnard Castle.
By March 1990, there were 628 outlets and four main bakeries.
In May 1994, it was acquired by Greggs and in December 2008, the shops of Bakers Oven were renamed as Greggs.

Greggs is a British bakery chain, selling savoury products such as bakes, sausage rolls, sandwiches and sweet items including doughnuts and vanilla slices. Greggs was founded by John Gregg as a Tyneside bakery in 1939 and opened its first shop in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1951.
In 1994, the company acquired the Bakers Oven chain of bakers' shops from Allied Bakeries.
By 2013, facing increased competition from supermarkets, Greggs changed to selling "food on the go" expanding its breakfast menu and stopped selling bread and scones in many of its stores.
